Boil Kidney Beans for 10 min before cooking in a slow cooker to prevent poisoning

Here’s a new one on me.  Kidney Beans contain a poison that must be elimated by boiling the dry beans for 10 min.  This poison can’t be removed by the low temperature in a Crock-pot or slow cooker and people can be poisoned by them.  See the full write up I read on Wikipedia here.
